Introduction
Many people have a natural desire to get married, and choosing a compatible marriage partner will of course be one of the biggest and life changing decisions that people will have to make.
In Islam marriage is a moral safeguard as well as being a social building block. An Islamic marriage is not only the legal way to reproduce human beings and meet sexual desires. God intends Muslims to form a society and develop it where every member dwell in peace and tranquility to develop their hidden potentials.
Allah, most gracious says about spouses in Quran:
Among his signs is the (the fact) that he has created spouses for you among yourselves so that you may dwell in tranquility with them, and he has planted love and mesrcy between you: in that are signs for people who reflect.
Quran (30:21)
Marriage allows families to be established, and a family is considered to be a fundamental unit of society. Marriage is the only valid and halal way to perform intimacy between a man and a woman and urges us to control and regulate our desires, so that we remain civilized and equity reigns in society. |
